ABOUT

Anna Floto is a British multidisciplinary artist based in Barcelona. She is currently completing her diploma at Metafora Studio Arts in Barcelona and holds a background in architecture from the University of Edinburgh. Anna further developed her practice through a two-month residency at Can Serrat in Catalunya during October and November 2024. Her work typically manifests in the forms of drawing, oil painting, and art activation with the public, although she has also engaged with publications and performance. All outcomes are united by a deep interest in the connections and interactions within natural and societal ecosystems. As the artist, her role is to act as a catalyst, carefully planning and providing the tools for the work to evolve and grow on its own. Most of the time, the work requires the interactivity of the general public or the environment to fully function. These foundations that Anna creates encourage new, natural interactions and connections to emerge—both within artistic institutions and the urban environment of Barcelona.

Anna's approach to art is rooted in the exploration and research of natural and social forms through subconscious drawing, mark-making, and painting. This process allows her to capture moments and develop ideas intuitively while engaging with a deeper understanding of her environment. These practices are integral to her work, helping to shape the conceptual foundation of her pieces as she becomes immersed in the creative flow.

In addition to her personal art practice, Anna co-runs200cent gallery, a community and creative space that provides a platform for emerging and established artists to showcase their work and artist investigations. Through organizing and curating events in the space for local and international artists, Anna aims to amplify unity through diversity, creating a meaningful dialogue between artists and their communities.

Although Anna’s work is not limited to artistic institutions, it has been exhibited at casaespacio, Espai Souvenir, 200CENT, and Mutuo Gallery, among others. Anna is committed to exploring how art can extend beyond traditional gallery settings, making it more accessible to a wider public.
